Design and Technology
At St Charles, we aim to create a high-quality Design and Technology education. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, engineering, computing and art.
Our curriculum is designed carefully to ensure National Curriculum coverage and progression of key skills. Using a thematic approach we encourage children to make links between subjects, to make learning enjoyable make tasks purposeful. This helps to fosters deeper engagement and purpose for Design and Technology tasks whilst giving children specific knowledge in these areas.
We provide a wide range of enrichment activities to support our curriculum, including trips visitors and local area studies to enhance the experience of the students in our care.
