Phonics
We use the Ruth Miskin’ Read, Write, Inc approach to the teaching of phonics and early reading and writing skills. This approach is highly effective in enabling children to decode and blend words quickly as well as developing understanding and enjoyment of texts.

Implementation of RWI Phonics Lesson at Saint Charles
Children have daily phonics lessons where they learn new sounds as well as segmenting and blending skills in a fun child-friendly way!
Please find some videos of our children learning Set 1 pure sounds, special friends, red and green words and alien words. Children can watch these at home and join in. These are also very good examples of how to use pure sounds for children in order to blend.
